A partir do parecer de antropólogos e indigenistas, a Funai decidiu extinguir a colônia penal da Fazenda Guarani, antiga subsistência da Polícia Militar de Minas Gerais, onde eram presos índios considerados "delinquentes". Agora esses indígenas poderão voltar a suas terras de origem.
