O presidente Sarney assinou decreto autorizando a Petrobras a construir um gasoduto para ecoar a produção de gás natural na bacia terrestre do Espírito Santo. O projeto vai ocupar uma área de 18,5 mil metros quadrados na terra indígena de Caieiras Velha. O decreto também estabelece que a Petrobras indenizará os povos indígenas pelos prejuízos causados, em um valor que será definido em conjunto com a Funai, que deverá fiscalizar e garantir os interesses indígenas durante o processo.
