De acordo com o padre Gunter Kraemer, do Cimi, isso é consequência do fato da Fundação não corresponder aos interesses indígenas e por se associar, em alguns casos, ao grande capital. Ainda segunda Kraemer, a Funai representou mais um passo no processo de aculturação forçada dos povos indígenas.
