O governador Jaime Lerner lançou, na reserva indígena de Mangueirinha, o primeiro Piá Indígena, que prevê várias obras voltadas à preservação ambiental. O seu objetivo é proteger a maior floresta nativa de araucária do mundo, preservar a cultura Kaingang e Guarani e contribuir para a melhoria social e econômica dos índios que vivem na reserva.
